On this record are four finely-crafted weapons that boom like a howitzer and beguile like a drunken pirate’s cutlass. Forged using an ages-old blend of modern computer technology and 1980s synthesisers, all are designed to cause maximum offence on the dancefloor. Not content with causing a ruckus on the hard shoulder of the information superhighway, Deep Space Orchestra deliver their first full EP on this, the maiden voyage of their own label: Use of Weapons. With their unreleased tracks getting heavy rotation from selectors such as DJ Jus- Ed, Kirk Degiorgio, Michael Rutten, Scott Grooves, Floating Points and other esteemed jockeys, 2010 has seen some well-deserved support for the duo.As well as further output on Use of Weapons, Deep Space Orchestra have forthcoming releases lined up for 2010 on labels such as Applied Rhythmic Technology, Winding Road and Home Taping.Calling on the remix services of long-time cohort Graeme Clark (aka The Revenge), who rounds off the package like a carefully placed gherkin atop a gourmet cheeseburger, Deep Space Orchestra deliver an EP which jacks in all the right places, mystifies your brain pipes then takes you on an interstellar journey to the galaxy’s dark bits. The release also features original artwork from the extraordinarily talented North West brush fondler Harry Harris.
