Following on from the well-received third instalment - the dance-floor-troubler that was Deep Space Orchestra’s “Ghetto Science Institute” EP - Use of Weapons number four comes correct with four tracks, four different production outfits and four very good reasons to shake anything you can on a dancefloor near you. Kicking off the EP in style, the hotter-than-hot-fudge 6th Borough Project turn in “Estranged Lover", a trademark insidious house/disco chugger that hits hard and compels instant head nodding, just like you knew it would. Following this, a fledgling appearance for Haku (a pseudonym for Deep Space Orchestra’s Chris Barker) sees him up the tempo and layer live percussion, synths, and drum machines on top of one another to create the beguiling and emotive ever-building 4am monster that is “Rugo". On the flip, the ever-reliable enfant terrible Andy Ash causes parental upset with a mid-tempo dirty bomb, occasionally veering towards more soulful leanings before returning “Somehow” to its jacking origin. Finally, label heads Deep Space Orchestra round off the EP with “Erase Everything” - a shimmering 10 minute techno excursion that at the very least demands scuba gear and a decent selection of sandwiches.
