Since co-signing to DisasZt’s Mainframe Recordings and Shimon’s AudioPorn Records, Xilent hasn’t wasted anytime putting his stamp on the scene as one of the hottest new talents to emerge in recent memory. Xilent’s first release on Audioporn Records, the ‘Choose Me EP’, represented a tour de force for the rising star with its Dubstep, Electro-House and Drum & Bass tracks showcasing his versatility. Despite being his first attempt at 140bpm music, the Dubstep version of ‘Choose Me’ has racked up over 800,000 views on YouTube, been selected as Zane Lowe’s ‘Next Hype’ track on BBC Radio1, and even hit #1 on the prestigious Beatport Dubstep charts, topping international stars such as Datsik, Deadmau5, Noisia, and Skrillex.
Fresh off the success of ‘Choose Me’, Xilent has also been busy working on several high-profile remixes for the likes of Fuzzy Logik, Yogi, and J Majik & Wickaman. Not one to rest on his laurels, the 21 year old now makes his first appearance on Mainframe Recordings, the label that brought us the debut album ‘Above & Beyond’ from Camo & Krooked. Since its inception in 2008, Mainframe has become a label synonymous with new talent and raw creativity. With the Austrian king of Drum and Bass, DisasZt, at its helm, Mainframe has remained at the forefront of electronic music with innovative releases from the likes of Shimon, DC Breaks, Phetsta, High Maintenance, and Kos & Tenchu, delighting fans across the globe. Featuring two tracks in Xilent’s signature style, this double dose of high-energy 174bpm neurofunk is sure to cement his place at the cutting-edge of drum and bass and continue to prove why Mainframe is one of the fastest rising labels in the scene today.
‘Evolutions Per Minute’ : Kicking off with a euphoric vocal floating over a atmospheric background synth, ‘Evolutions Per Minute’ boasts the huge sound and high production values synonymous with Xilent. After an epic build up, the track turns into a Drum and Bass monster, with its complex punchy beats and filthy synth working together to form one of the rowdiest tracks out this year. A great example of why the young producer is causing such a stir, ‘Evolutions Per Minute’, with its time signature changes, hard hitting beats and precise synth-work is a sure fire hit on the dancefloor.
‘Tenkai’ : The B-Side ‘Tenkai’ offers no let up, and is yet another awesome slice of Drum and Bass from Xilent. Beginning with a slick introduction full of minute flourishes and other sound effects, it boasts an astounding level of attention to detail, typical of the rising star. Featuring a novel, stuttering groove, ‘Tenkai’ jolts forwards whilst a bold synth, delicate oriental keys and carefully chosen vocal snippets add yet another layer of sumptuous detail. Featuring the same slick production as the A-side but with a unique eastern twist, the smooth ‘Tenkai’ is an example of Xilent’s versatility.
