After 15 years of involvement in D&B, Austrian promoter, DJ, label boss and producer Disaszt is about to step his already-illustrious career up a notch with the release of his debut album, ‘Shadow & Lightening’.
Forthcoming on Disaszt’s own label, the highly respected Mainframe Recordings, the album promises to be packed with the dancefloor-filling, filthy drum & bass sound for which Austria and Disaszt have become well known.
This single is the first of five from ‘Shadow & Lightening’ and sees the Austrian producer collaborate with Hungary’s finest D&B export Chris SU, and also lesser known countrymen Kos & Tenchu, to forge a 12†that demands attention.
‘Transference’ with Chris SU slowly plots its way towards dancefloor oblivion with a gentle techno-inspired riff reminiscent of Konflict or Usual Supspects at their late-90s best, before switching into one of the filthiest, most twisted drops you’ll hear. Clever edits and use of filters provide ‘Transference’ with a sense of persistent progression, playing the face-screwing dirt of the drop off against the delicacy of the lead riff to forge the sort of groove-driven D&B track that’s rare in these ear-bleeding times.
‘Move’ with fellow Austrians Kos and Tenchu is no less impressive, gradually building towards an apocalyptic drop that demonstrates an engineering finesse of which the mighty Noisia would be proud. A head-lurching, face-contorting stomp of a track, ‘Move’ leaves you unable to do anything but that. Think millennial Ed Rush & Optical with a modern day twist and you’re half-way there.
