After the success of Volumen Uno, Musica Sol Y Mar are back with a second installment of Balearic Sound for 2010. This beautiful double album showcases more gorgeous Balearic gems that have long been on the playlists of native Ibicenco DJs as well as Balearic brothers around the world such as DJ Harvey, Phil Mison and Moonboots.
Balearic Sound Volumen Dos is made up of a rich variety of music. The album features tracks such as the blue-eyed soul anthem ‘Get It Up For Love’ by West Coast legend Ned Doheny - a track huge with DJ Harvey at the recent Sarcastic parties and extremely hard to find on any format, jazzman John Tropea’s cut ‘Living In The Jungle’ was both big in Ibiza as well as on the Afro scene in Italy back in the day. The heady mood of Club Amnesia in the mid-eighties is captured by the inclusion of ‘The Pink Panther Theme’, often dropped by Alfredo as a ‘mood-changer’ while a club employee swept the dancefloor with a broom! Moving from the floor to the beach bar, closing the compilation are two beautiful pieces of music which Jose Padilla made his own – Lalo Schifrin’s ‘Quiet Village’ from his remarkable ‘Black Widow’ album and ‘Love Remembered’, a theme from Bram Stoker’s Dracula – often played as the sun set at the Café Del Mar. Balearic luminaries Alan Parsons, Vangelis, Paul Davidson and Jean-Luc Ponty are also featured over the four sides appealing to aficionados and newcomers alike.
All tracks featured here are either long deleted on vinyl or are seeing a vinyl release for the first time. All tracks have been re-mastered for maximum quality. Enjoy Balearic Sound Volumen Dos!
