The Limerick label returns with ANTQ003, a various artists collection featuring four deep house cuts of distinctly varying styles.
The A side kicks off with a return from Galway-man Frenchie with the ever building tension of “Case Equal”. Frenchie provided us with the first Antiqua release late in 2009 and this latest offering will not disappoint. A2 sees Michigan resident Duky making his debut on Antiqua with “Let Me Take You”. A cheeky, upbeat house track, that displays plenty attitude from the off.
The B side is a deeper affair with heavy Limerick city representation on both tracks.
First up is Did, his “Z Factor” piece is a warm bassy affair carrying influence from Motown and using a tiny vocal element to maximum effect. On the inner B side is Frawl’s “The Widow”. A powerful 110 bmp slow techno monster loaded with rumbling basslines and slow building pads.
Both Did and Frawl, along with lifelong friend Andy O’Donoughue, have been on the deeper end of the Limerick house scene for many years now. Together they currently run the very successful “What the F**k is Tech House?” clubnight in the city, a brand that has brought names such as; John Daly, Chris Lattner, Motor City Drum Ensemble and Dario Zenker to Limerick. This release will be the first time the lads see their own music on vinyl and judging by what can be heard from their on going work in the studio, it certainly won’t be the last.
