This release is a winning 7" pairing the New York City dub master Ticklah with the sweet sounds of the late and great Lincoln "Sugar" Minott. As a singer, producer, and sound system selector, Sugar Minott is a known for his influence on the world of reggae music. He gained early recognition for his harmony vocals in the group The African Brothers and launched his solo career on Coxsone Dodd's Studio One label. Mr. Minott's career chronicles the transformation of reggae music, through lovers rock, sufferers and rub-a-dub to the rise of modern dancehall and computerized riddims.
Well known for his breadth of musical talent and ability to voice everything from lovers rock and foundational riddims to digital roots and sufferers psalms, Sugar Minott put's his all into this upfull and soulful track. The sweet melody and soothing harmonies of Mr. Minott's vocal are well matched by Ticklah's rhythm track which is wrapped in spring reverb, chugging organ and punctuated by glistening agogo bells. In typical fashion, Ticklah seals the deal with the dub version which leaves plenty of the vocal echoing through the mix, and is a refreshing analog sound in contrast to the digital riddims of the day.
