Breakin Bread continue to revel in their presence in the centre of the modern b-boy scene with a 7” for the b-boys. 2 breaks heavy instrumental tracks aimed straight at the circle and dancefloor.
Breakin Bread have always supported all elements of hip hop and the soul and funk that gave birth to the scene. As heavy record diggers Skeg and Rob Life always spun original breaks alongside hip hop at their legendary club nights that kicked off in 1998. As soon as the new school of London b-boys heard about this they came down in their droves and ever since Breakin Bread club nights have always had a circle and some of the best battles ever seen in the UK.
This 7” is aimed at that crowd and the DJ’s that spin for them but this sound also works well in any uptempo funk or hip hop b-boy set.
Breakin Bread have hooked up with stateside b-boys for this release.
Side A – Revenge Is A Dish Best Served Funky
This is a masterful piece of b-boy magic. Arranged and produced like a funk track from the 70’s, this is not your straight looped beats for the average b-boy. This builds and grooves in a way that only a dancer would know about. K. Sabroso began his musical journey on the dance floor, studying the science of beats and breaks while earning his stripes as a b-boy. In 2009 Sandoval decided to focus his attention on music, both as a DJ and producer. With musical influences across the board, he has explored countless genres including Dancehall, Latin Alternative, Downtempo, Trip-Hop, House, Glitch, Jungle, Trap, and Jazz... but he never wanders far from the breakbeats that fuel him as both a dancer and frequent Dj of breaking battles.
Side B – Fleg Remix
Fleg takes the track in a slightly different direction with a nod to early 80’s hip hop cut n paste production. This is a dirtier mix for the funk heads. Stephen Fleg aka DJ Fleg is a DJ, Bboy and producer from Maryland, U.S.A. His constant digging for new sounds in every genre allow Fleg’s style to incorporate old classics, new productions, jazz, funk, rock and soul all into one cohesive DJ stew. In addition to DJing, he also throws Baltimore’s most noted party, “4 Hours of Funk”. He has been organizing Baltimore’s most noted party, “4 Hours of Funk and throwing this for 4 years and has shared the stage with Dam Funk, Onra, Busy Bee, The Cold Crush Brothers, Grand Wizard Theodore, Teddy Douglas, and Kon.
