Breakin Bread continue their support of the live soul and funk sound with a cover of a mod classic backed with a neo soul groover. Glenn Fallows (aka Ed Meme) has been the main songwriter, bandleader, manager, guitarist and Hammond organist for funk, soul and breaks collective The Impellers for the last 5 years, releasing albums on Freestyle Records, Mocambo Records and Legere Recordings. In 2012, an over-productive mind and too much time on his hands left him with far too many songs to release with the band so to remedy this, a solo project was born ? Ed Meme
SIDE A - YOUNG SCENE feat APOLLO NEGRI - Glenn brings in Apollo Negri to cover the Keith Mansfield classic from the 60's. Surprisingly this hasn't been covered in recent times and the Ed Meme version is dancefloor dynamite with that classic organ riff given a new twist by the boys.
SIDE B - GOLDEN YEARS feat GUESTS OF NATURE - Again Ed Meme takes you deeper on the flipside. This time round he's got in Guests of Nature on the vocal and they deliver a sweet ode to the perils of everyday life. Glenn shows all his skills on this once with tons of instrumentation, a shuffling beat and a dubby bassline.
BACKGROUND - The Ed Meme project is written, arranged and produced by Glenn with him also playing the majority of the instruments. Drums and conga duties are performed by Mark Claydon (Sir Joe Quartermain, Jezebel Sextet, The Getup, Gizelle Smith band) and tracks feature guest vocals from guests including Myles Sanko (Bijoumiyo, Speedometer, solo), Lady Clair (The Impellers) and Michelle David (Lefties Soul Connection).
