In 2005 the ‘Teenage DJ Disco Best’ EP, featuring four 'get you on the floor' edits by Greg Wilson under his Teenage DJ alias, became an underground dance essential on both sides of the Atlantic. With only a limited quantity pressed, copies would eventually change hands for as much as $90 Stateside! Three years on, in 2008, the lead track, ‘I Was A Teenage DJ Pt 1 (extnd)’, was once again made available via a limited vinyl release, this time on the Reactivate imprint. The Teenage DJ project, originally no more than a personal outlet for Wilson’s ideas during a long period of obscurity, pre-dates his return to the clubs in 2003. Now, for a second TDJ 12”, he’s selected four more choice cut-ups from out of the vaults. ‘C’Mon (You Can Get It)’ is based around a loop from Dusty Springfield’s classic ‘Son Of A Preacher Man’, with other elements including Yello and Instant Funk. ‘Doobie In Your Funk’ combines the Doobie Brothers and Curtis Mayfield, with a sprinkling of Visual thrown in for good measure. ‘Never Look Back’ splices and speeds up Silver Convention’s ‘Fly Robin Fly’, whilst ‘Booty Dance’, like ‘I Was A Teenage DJ’, works a KC & The Sunshine Band groove good and proper. All in all another calibre quartet of GW club cuts excavated from his audio archive, and now destined for the most discolicious dancefloors around the globe.
