Sales Notes:
Currently the biggest Grime producer in the scene, Spooky follows up the years biggest tune 'Spartan' with the DJ Oddz influenced 'Over Capacity'. Sparse sub bass and blasts of harsh synth only serve to maintain Spooky's reputation as the grime producer to watch in 2011. (Included in Night Slugs' Deejay Mosca's recent FACT mix).
- Following on Spooky's old school influence, "Fortress Riddim" from newcomer mistayif draws on a Davinche-esque sound pallette and deep melodic bass to produce a track that could just as easily fit in pirate radio sets from 2002 as it does in today’s sets.
- 'Rhythm & Slags' by 'Next Hype' producer Darq E Freaker is on a different level. This long-time favourite among the likes of Spyro and Butterz is now getting a much-deserved release. Referencing the Skepta favourite "Rhythm & Gash," Darq twists and chops fragments of melody and vocal stabs to create an intense piece of music.
- South London's Splurt wraps up the EP with the frantic 'The Return VIP (Mega Refix). Described by no less than Starkey as "the way grime should sound in 2010," and part of his current top 10, this is the most aggressive grime instrumental to be released in some time. Blasts of ascending abrasive bass, percussion and white noise make this the peak of even the most violent set.
