"No gimmicks needed here, this jazz is cooking." The new double-sider "Teddy the Sweeper / Where's the Man?" showcases Helsinki sax man Timo Lassy in full swing, cooking session style. Lassy, also of The Five Corners Quintet, recorded his third solo LP to be released later in 2012 with some of the sharpest A-listers in the vibrant Finnish jazz scene, and this first taster proves that the line up is a winner. This quintet gets the basis of their creative energy from the likes of Cannonball Adderley and Lockjaw Davis, but their focus is essentially in making contemporary jazz the "art of now" it once was: five guys, one room, one helluva groove.
