The Volcanos who released “False Alarm” before the moving to Arctic Records in 1965 eventually achieved fame under the name "The Trammps" with chart hits like “Disco Inferno” but also doing many other smoother soulful tunes. The Harthon label's studio band came into later prominence as the bedrock of MFSB and all the 70s Gamble/Huff disco hits doing the groundwork for the famous "Philly sound". “False Alarm” is a perfect example of an upbeat, uptempo driving sixties Philly “Northern” Soul stomper with a quite unique instrumentation, a great break and a repetitive hookline that can put every Soul dancefloor onto another level!! The Flipside “Movin’ And Groovin’” is a great danceable horn-driven funky instrumental perfect for a Deep Funk set! In the 1960s when they were still “The Volcanos” major chart success was never achieved, but not so at SOUND of SOUL where it's the current No.1 spin in 2012!! (Jörg Recordshack January 2012)
