THE FIELD has had a remarkable past year touring the globe with his band performing a slew of key summer festivals slots that included Oye, Bestival and Creamfields, and currently touring across Europe. It's only natural the cycle comes full circle with a collection of interpretations picked from three of today's leading newcomers that share with THE FIELD the enthusiasm of heralding a new era of crossover electronic/indie music that carries no genre borders. We head over to London where Pitchfork adored GOLD PANDA has been causing a massive stir with his remixes for Bloc Party, HEALTH, Little Boats and Telepathe. Here he elegantly samples the vinyl from "I Have The Moon, You Have The Internet" into a savvy dub-stepped Dilla-esque roller that is certain to cause shivers. RAINBOW ARABIA may be new to the scene but this husband and wife duo from Los Angeles made waves their recent mini LP "Kabukimono" - they have an uncanny ability to raise the Arabian rave to the upteeth level and sound nothing quite like anyone else we have crossed paths with. That said, when we found out they were fans of The Field we jumped on the opportunity and they don't disappoint. "Sequenced" gets totally remade into a Moroder freak-fest with Tiffany Preston's Siouxsie-esque voice crooning throughout to make it a hauntingly addictive hooray. Back in London we have enlisted the duo Sam Willis (Allez Allez) and Alessio Natalizia (Banjo, Freakout) who call themselves WALLS. Beyond being KOMPAKT's latest signing (expect their debut to drop in the first half of 2010), they caused a roar of online excitement with their tune "Burnt Sienna" which (unsigned) found it's way onto a flurry of blogs and even Pitchfork. The duo chose "Leave It" and the fully submerge the original in a sublime sea that beautifully roars with the waves of bells, guitars and a cello that mingles with the deep ocean flow as the blue whales that call to their young. A perfect finale to a very unique remix project for KOMPAKT that is all too fitting and complimentary for THE FIELD.
