Croydon's own Swindle gets 2011 off to a great start with his first release on the grime label of the mo-ment, Butterz. The funk-obsessed producer delivers an exercise in dark half-step on the title tune 'Mood Swings' with all the funky riffs and synths that fans of 'Airmiles' have grown to love since he debuted with that track on Planet Mu.
'Bebop' is a more light-hearted affair with chopped-up vocoder vocal samples coupled with subtle piano keys fading in and out between the up-tempo beat pattern.
'Trending Topic' is one for lovers of Starkey and Terror Danjah alike, as it combines the organic energy of grime with the quirkiness of Swindle's funk influenced synth patterns.
Having already gained support from Starkey, Alexander Nut, Scratcha DVA and DJ Q, the 'Mood Swings EP' is shaping up to be yet another instant classic from Swindle and the Butterz label.
