Sweater On Polo AKA Mali “STRINGS” Mase was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, a slow but beautiful suburb 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia. He spent pretty much all of his teenage years skateboarding and trying to stay out of trouble. He started producing trap and rap beats at 17 but quickly got tired of trying to impress local rappers so switched to atmospheric drum and bass and house music which he found less compromising. He has been living in New York since 2017, where he skates and makes music as much as possible and leads a generally mellow life. “Travel International EP is about moving, traveling, and seeking adventure in life. Not only physically, but also mentally. My goal with all of these tracks was to allow myself to get lost somewhere between the simplicities and complexities of the grooves. I wanted the music to sound fruitful and universal. There’s no particular setting for this music. I just hope wherever the listener desires to make use of it, they can hear it. Half of the EP was sequenced on a DAW, the other half with hardware and recorded onto blank cassettes or into a DAW, so you’re gonna hear some differences between the mediums used. I want to thank everyone that supported me throughout this journey between the time I started producing and this record being released.
