B2. Submerse - I Can
Hailing from Cheshire, Submerse is an esteemed DJ/producer with a distinct and recognisable sound that traverses two-step, garage, bassline and funky whilst being punctuated by a myriad of unique and personal influences. The past two years have seen the Sub.FM regular at his most prolific, releasing records on his own label, Night Audio, alongside the highly acclaimed ‘Hold It Down’ on Well Rounded Records, EPs on L2S, Slime and Maltine with remixes appearing on releases from Atlantic Records and Swing and Skip. His ever-evolving style has earned him the respect of his peers worldwide and he’s set to conclude a year of non-stop beat-making and DJing across clubs in Europe, US and Canada by producing with the mighty Klaxons.
Amidst a plenitude of productions, 2010 also saw the well-received birth of his own ‘J-Garage’, a sponsorship deal with Terratag Clothing and support emerge from influential media titans such as DJ Mag, Radio 1 and Ministry of Sound Radio, playing and hosting the Essential Garage Show more than once on the latter. With preparations already underway to take his sound to the clubs of Japan next year, 2011 is definitely his time.
The 4 tracks on offer here are probably his strongest to date, ranging from the demented bassline bounce of Mecha to the blessed out, yearning garage of Searching and I Can, via the arcade game tropicalia of Fruit Salad, co produced with partner Resketch.
Support comes from Shortstuff, Spamchop, Phaelah Ramadanman, KingThing, Whistla, Sentinels, Drop the Lime, The Captain (trouble and bass) Dusk and Blackdown, KingThing, Whistla & Sentinels.
