The relentless duo Subb-an & Adam Shelton get the floors shaking with the next release on their one label, ‘It’s Time’, complete with a jozif and Death On The Balcony remix.
One Recordsare cementing a sound focused on raw funk with a retro feel. This next release is no exception. The title track tells us, “It’s time to move your behind” in a vintage robotic vocal dispersed over a groovy bassline and jacking drums. An accapella adds an edge to the package.
jozif’s retake swings down the tempo and adds depth and appeal with low bass frequencies and spine tingling strings. jozif has come to the attention as a bright new producer of late through original releases on Wolf + Lamb, Vitalik and more. This remix shows there’s yet more to come from this talent through his inventive and memorable approach.
Death On The Balcony (DOTB) give a mind-altering ‘Harbour Tripping remix’ of ‘It’s Time’ to take you to the skies and back. Masterful production in shown through their experimental techniques resulting in an epic record comparable with the efforts of Aphex Twin or Flying Lotus. DOTB are Mark Carimelli and Paul Hargreaves, two rogueish talents that spend most of their time holed up in studios in their hometown of Leeds. Their precision and diversity gives them wide appeal and they show a flair for producing all (the best) styles of music.
Subb-an’s releases on B-Pitch, Hypercolour, 2020vision, Leftroom and Mothership have given him a platform for his talent while Shelton has dedicated over five years to cultivating Below as the top club night outside of London.
