The new Red Earth Records release is a beautiful, heart-warming song appealing to all nationalities and generations.
Recorded at Ironworks studio in Brighton (aka Prince Fatty's) and at the Kingston, Jamaica facility of legendary hit-maker Bunny Striker Lee, the sound of this succulent slice of reggae music is classic analogue, combined with Soothsayers innovative and contemporary production style. This unique mixture, along with the universally appealing lyrics, make “Were Not Leaving†one of the years most relevant and forceful releases.
Soothsayers sublime vocal harmonies pay respect to the tradition of great vocal trios, stretching all the way from Bob Marley and the Wailers to Crosby, Stills and Nash and beyond, being nicely offset on this record by the melodic trademark provided by the Soothsayers Horns (aka the Fela Horns, as featured in the UK performances of the popular Broadway musical).
The B-Side is an evocative Manasseh dub mix that sees the Soothsayers band (aka The Red Earth Collective), team up with the great falsetto singer and Studio One veteran, Cornell Campbell. Expect the fully extended version of this one in late September on a 12-inch vinyl single (33 rpm), released along with other tracks by Soothsayers, rising roots sensation Lutan Fyah, the even-dependable Earl 16, and more.
