BXL001 is the first release of the artist-run Brussels based label BXL.
The first release by Simon Halsberghe is a collection of three intense techno tracks.
The a-side PNRCHV SLPSNC is a tough and powerful workout with echoes of early Sähkö and post-dubstep influences. The b-side is made up of two tracks that take their inspiration from the insectoïd weirdness of the Sci-fi cult film Phase IV. GIANT ANT sounds like the droning of a huge Formicidic Monster ready for anything in its way. ANT QUEEN on the other hand sounds more like the marching orders banged out on a huge kettle drum by the Queen of the colony herself.
Previously Simon Halsberghe has released music as Pitch & Hold (on Love Triangle Music), Simon Hold (on VLEK) and HABERGEON (on Gentle Tapes). Now he has opted to use his proper name instead of a pseudonym!
