Cork-based Shane Linehan has risen to prominence with vinyl buyers in the past few years via his vinyl-only Basic Grooves label, a label which has seen the DJ/Producer release mostly (but not exclusively) his own ‘authentic house’ material which has won vocal support from Jus Ed, Norm Talley, Kerri Chandler, Dj Deep, Mosca and more.
Having played for WetYourSelf!’s eponymous night at Fabric, Linehan now delivers his first EP for the WYS! label and it features three track of no-nonsense house music. ‘Aspects of Change’ unveils a tougher, more techno inclined side of Shane Linehan and the results are impressive.
‘Relentless’ opens ‘Aspects of Change’ with purpose. One of the toughest Linehan tracks to date, the drums here dominate the track which is, due to just a bass stab and effected vocal hit, as simple but as effective as they come.
‘So Much For That’ sees Linehan deliver tight, swinging vibes evoking classic Relief output while sounding decidedly contemporary while closing track ‘Wanting What We Have’ exercises some rich detuned Juno 6 bass work alongside rousing, phased pads.
Shane Linehan’s ‘Aspects of Change’ is released on WetYourSelf! Recordings early July on vinyl with a digital release following on 15th July.
