- 180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE VINYL Released in 1966, The Swinger From Rio is perhaps the best example of a genre defining record, capturing pianist Sergio Mendes playing straight up Bossa Nova with a stellar line-up of seasoned musicians.
The Swinger From Rio features jazz giants Hubert Laws on flute, Art Farmer on flugelhorn and Phil Woods on alto sax.
The album reserves a special guest spot for the famed Antônio Carlos Jobim on violin, whose writing credits include the Jazz standard "The Girl From Ipanema".
Jobim is further credited with being on the forefront of the Bossa Nova style, a Brazilian combination of Samba and Jazz.
