Berlin based artists Sasse (aka Freestyle Man/Mr Negative) has been active in the European clubscene since he moved to Germany from his native Finland in 1999. Countless 12-inches vinyl releases on his own Moodmusic label as well as releases and remixes on Fine, Pokerflat, Playhouse, Dirt Crew & Systematic among others, has pushed him to be one of the most in demand electronic producers of today. “Made Within The Upper Stairs Of Heaven” shows his musical roots starting from disco and italo, going thru the clubby Chicago and Detroit techno influences mixed with his fine ear for catcy melodies and fine tuned arrangements. Crafted in his state of the art BlackHead Studios in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg the album has a sound which fits as well at home as well as on a massive club sound system. The album is featuring vocalists Kiki (B-Pitch Control), Malte (Losoul/Playhouse), Jani Lehto (Star You Star Me) and Bernadette Hengst (Die Braut Haut ins Auge). But, it is not a featured album full of misplaced one-off singles, rather a journey with a musical story to be told. Starting with the first single release “Loosing Touch”, vocalist Kiki sweet talks you into athmospheric future disco mode with his robotic low-slung voice. Continuing in electronic soundscapes with “Do Robots Have Soul?” and “Legacy”, it´s “Nicaraguan Love Affair” which takes the definite italo route straight to heaven. Moody echoed synths and low-key bassnotes lifts the track up a few stairs before “The Sound Of Highlife” drops the cocaine induced discosound of Berlin underground.
