RUIN is the Berlin based music collective around singer Richard Ruin / aka Martin Eder, who is one of the most important painters of the contemporary german art scene.
For the dark, scenic music performance, classic elements of New Music with a sleepy essence of Doom Metal and Chanson Noir interweave with broken meters and deep droning sounds.
Produced from minimal bass guitars, distanced pianos and reverb electronics, this music functions as the atmospheric mirror of the previous creations of RUIN and the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop.
A filmic, morbid likeness of an intense music between Comacore, leaden Metal and ambient Electronic.
The album carries with artistic self-evident a special cover artwork: The twelve Tracks offer a dark and crepuscular piece of modern chamber music. Twelve different materials have been chosen for the CD artwork to make this synesthetic experience tangible. They are representing the record as a whole and as a thick black crust.
The materials are oil, vodka, fat, blood, soap, aspirin, tobacco, metal, bone, ash, soot and salt. The CD box contains these twelve materials on separate screen printings. Only after several months of laboratory process it succeeded to transform these bulky taming materials into colors so that they could be used for printing the screens. The manufacturing process can not only be felt and seen through the thick "paint" job.
It also shows the difficult process of collecting these chunks of sound, noise, rhythm and melody. These printings leave a pretty strange smell from oil residue, blood and soap.
