Previously only available as part of his subscription 12” series ‘Mixed Fortunes’, these two 12”s heralds the first original material from Rory Phillips, following a 7 year run of well received remixes for the indie and dance elite, played by everyone from A Trak to DJ Harvey. Named to reflect the stylistic range of the series, Mixed Fortunes channels the same spirit of musical adventure heard in both Phillips’s remix work and in his genre-hopping DJ sets, with tracks both by Phillips alone in his well stocked analogue studio as well as some undertaken with a range of top secret collaborators. This first digital release combines the first two 12”s in one package, which ranges from arpeggiated disco (Chamber Music), through robot punk (Factor 50) and acid house (Cosmic Fluff), ending in Carpenter-esque suspense (Mover) while staying true to Rory’s trademark sound, which he has showcased across Europe, Asia, the USA and South America this year alone.
