Ken Ishii used to embrace soul-enriching house music with his Rising Sun alias, with a previous appearance on ESP Records in 1993 being the only previous solo record under that name. Now he reignites the project for this release on Kristofferson Kristofferson, with both tracks on the vinyl marked as "dubplate" mixes. "Message" has a rousing set of strings powering a socially-conscious speech over a crisp disco beat, crafted to stir the heartstrings as much as possible with a finely balanced melancholy. "Come Together" brings more meaningful vocal thoughts into the mix, while the track itself plies a broken rhythm and mellow chords for an altogether more laid back experience.
