Starting out in 2001 as a mere compilation series to tie up some loose ends from our regulars, SPEICHER has since become a guarantee for vanguard dance sounds from all over the planet, allowing KOMPAKT to invite and support electronic artists that comfortably inhabit both the delicate and the more deliberate ends of the electronic music spectrum. For Speicher 73, Holland's master of epic synths QUINCE and Berlin-based Techno fashionista TOM PETERS crafted two expansive masterpieces driven by emotive leads and tightly laced beats ready to make the crowd go ballistic. Canned by DJs worldwide, QUINCE is certainly a well-known brand in the Techno circuit, with strong releases on highly respected labels like DELSIN or MUSIC MAN RECORDS to his name. Where his earlier work excels in raising impressive skylines based on classic four-to-the-floor patterns, he somewhat strays away from his trademark bounce for LOST and implements a thrusting shuffle beat instead. The result is an eight-minute cliffhanger in the disguise of a cubist fairy tale, where we follow the unsung hero on its way through dark forests, clearing a path to what could very well be a princess at need. Shot through with moments of pure bliss, this suspense-packed thrill ride showcases the massive talent of the Dutchman whose years of experience in playing live translate seamlessly into consummate DJ weaponry. Two hours north of Berlin lies the small community of Unnode, where bustling DJ, producer and fashion designer TOM PETERS draws from the proximity of the Baltic Sea for inspiration. It's here where he produces most of his tracks including TAKE YOUR CHANCE, surrounded by stunning nature and not much else. Deeply informed by this vast landscape, Tom's production work shows all the signs of transcendent melancholy, but never fails to back up it with urban drive; his contribution to SPEICHER 73 sports some truly epic synth work with its hair tied back by propelling beat injections, fuelling a highly versatile floor monster aimed at both your feet and your heart. Just like the hand-printed messages featured in his own clothing line SAVE FASHION, Tom's music likes to walk the fine line between simplicity and ambiguity: "Dream on, dreamer."
