Rambunctious stuff from sometime Lee Van Dowski / Luciano cohort Quenum. Not since Orange Mistake became a dancefloor staple collaboration, has Quenum produced such a tune. Rio Grande is maverick, free-wheeling boss techno with mule train mouth-harp and a circle the wagons approach which is not only endearing but wholly agreeable. The flip maintains this high standard, and confirms this twelve is somewhat more brutal than expected – never harsh, just very clean lines and a quicksilver production which bowls along at an impressive lick.
