"Arkives Reference" fasst die 17-jährige Geschichte von Richie Hawtins Alter Ego Plastikman auf 15 CDs und einer DVD zusammen, begleitet von einem 94-seitigen Buch mit vielen, zumeist unveröffentlichten Fotos aus Hawtins Privatarchiv. Neben allen bisher erschienenen sechs Plastikman-Alben enthält die nur auf Vorbestellung erhältliche Box fünf weitere CDs mit rarem oder bislang unveröffentlichtem Material. Darunter sind Remixe für La Funk Mob, System 7, New Order, Depeche Mode oder Hardfloor und sensationelle neue Versionen von Plastikman-Tracks, die Leute wie Vince Clarke, Cliff Martinez, François Kevorkian, Moby, Chris & Cosey, Severed Heads, Flood sowie Daniel Miller und Gareth Jones von Mute produziert haben. Daneben enthüllt "Arkives Reference" zwei CDs mit bislang unveröffentlichten Tracks und einer Plastikman-Live-Session für John Peel. Die DVD fasst sämtliche Plastikman-Videoclips sowie Live-Mitschnitte zusammen. 2010 brachte Richie Hawtin sein Projekt Plastikman im Rahmen einer Welttournee zurück auf die Bühne. Seit knapp 20 Jahren prägt Richie Hawtin als einer der absoluten Top-DJs das weltweite Geschehen in der elektronischen Musik mit seinen Labels Plus 8 und Minus wie kaum ein anderer.
