A1. North 6th
B1. Desay Duty
The seventh release on Komisch is by Peter Van Hoesen.
Peter’s ‘Face of Smoke’ was the first release on the label back in 2009. Since then, the Belgian producer has released an excellent debut artist album, remixed Traversable Wormhole, James Kumo and Ed Rush and performed at the world’s best clubs and festivals.
It may have taken over 18 months for Komisch to get a follow up, but it is worth the wait!
‘North 6th’ sees Van Hoesen opt for a somewhat different tact: eerie sound effects introduce a more laid-back, shuffling groove that crackles with intricate percussive licks and subtle drops. However, it’s the building chords that showcase a deeper side to Peter’s production skills that will turn heads and feet.
‘Desay Duty’ marks a return to the sound that Peter explored on the recent ‘Hope in Honesterror’ track on his own Time 2 Express label. Razor-sharp percussive shards and an insistent, throbbing groove provide the backdrop for the kind of predatory bass licks not heard since Suburban Knight brought his nocturnal touch to the dance floor.
