Nation has Returned!
Its about times of change and transformation, where we feel odd, lost or alienated. Life comes and goes, people in our life come and go, emotions come and go. we have a limited time on this planet and nothing stays the same and everything is in constant change.
The end of the 70s sounded the death bell for the last illusions. Psychedelic and Cosmic Sound-Affaires, handmade on classical instruments
were fading from the public perception and a new form of music took hold. In this time Nancy Fortune was born in Clermont-Ferrand, which would become the rock-capital of France in the early 1980s. Electronic musical devices cured the interest of Nancy to produce her own music,
and in 2001 the first milestone was set down in The Hague when she released her first EP "The Secret Life of Nancy Fortune" on Viewlexx and for the next ten years, Nancy kept searching for the feeling of being at the centre of a current
which would spread forth... endlessly.
In those years she worked and collaborated with numerous people including
Alden Tyrell, Lukas Eargoogle, Beta Evers, Dj Elin, spawning new records
and new outlets to unleash her creativity as a songwriter and vocalist.
Being impressed with her vocal delivery, Traxx asked Nancy Fortune to contribute
her vocals on his track "My Soul", released on Traxx' solo-debut FAITH album in 2009 on Nation, in 2010 saw her collaborating with Bernhard Fevré of Black Devil Disco Club fame on two tracks for his critically-acclaimed album released on Lo.Recordings the same year.
These experiences drove her to start writing on her new album "Remain Human", involving the collaboration of Laurent Saussol, musician, arranger and sound engineer . Remain Human is a tribute to Life , and to the state of human (co-)existence.
Maturing in her songwriting process along the way, Nancy Fortune captures emotions and thoughts in a song-structure and thus delivers the third conceptual album on Nation, coexisting alongside the dancefloor outings in which the label made it's reputation.
This is an album made for open ears and open minds, experiencing an analogue
way of composing in the art of digital recording.
