mjellmë (she/they) aka swantje lichtenstein
is a sound and performance artist, musician and poet. lives in berlin and düsseldorf. they merge language and music in a transtextual, improvised as well as choreographed and composed mode.
mjellmë’s work is based on deconstructed, modulated as well as generated natural and artificial voices, used to transfer meaning, knowledge, poetry and wisdom in a transformative way of understanding without concentrating on the analytical or intellectual meaning of words. transmedial writing with or as sound is an important conceptual idea of all tracks.

stone sad (2018, produced and mastered in rundsamstudio, düsseldorf based on texts, thoughts and the voice of gertrude stein and mjellmë. stein is an idol of an early feminist, queer experimental writing, which was aware of the visual, rhythmical, semantical and syntactical side of language as well as full of aesthetic awareness and over boarding wisdom. working with rmjellmë and artificial voices)
2nd copy (2016, producedand mastered in rundsam studio, düsseldorf. the track is dealing with different generated, recorded and modulation voices used as sound base of this track. sampling, copying and quoting of ideas, sounds and words were put on a meta level as well as transformed into a new way of essayistic writing as sound writing)
akathisia (2017, produced and mastered in rundsam studio, düsseldorf. describes a movement disorder characterized by a subjective feeling of inner restlessness and the inability to sit still. the piece converts the transformation of the limitation of moving words and fast rhythms as a different perspective of disorders and disease as a productive form of body language)
fifu (2020, produced and mastered in düsseldorf. fifu means beat in yoruba as well as all sorts of abbreviation especially in the digital world. It stands for a term of understanding and misunderstanding at the same time. the love for opaqueness and complexity can be perceived in this track about translating voice and words into sounds as a surrounding and calming treatment for the soul. she track is also mystical and magical in it’s form and effects. the electronic effects and filters used on the recorded voices act like voices of ghosts and spiritual entities)
