Andnotor’s fourth vinyl release sees line idle laying down a hefty techno workout, which combines analogue crispness with distorted synths and a brooding vocal for maximum dancefloor devastation. Mixing Land Cruising-era melodic bounce with a dirty electronic throb, Tense slowly builds to a crescendo as the vocals rise up through the mix until the hook kicks in and it all gets messy. On the flipside, Nu42’s Acid remix does exactly what it says on the tin, arpeggiating the synths, adding a healthy dose of squelch and fracturing the vocals to make a much more grinding long-player. Whilst the original’s a peak-time techno beast, the flip’s pure warehouse material; nine-minutes of slowly-evolving drops and breakdowns designed for an early hours of the morning after-party. Tense is andnotor’s fourth vinyl, after limited-edition releases from Cledus Snow, TJ Kong and Aleksandr Jurczyk, and each copy comes individually hand-stencilled. Previous releases have gained them a substantial following from DJs like Tom Middleton, Kenny Larkin, Mark Bell (LFO), Mark Moore (S’Express) and Erwin Van Moll.
