Sales Notes:
A year has gone by since Vahagn's 'Trust' was released - the much applauded and sold out tribute track to Tiago's legendary monthly night at Lisbon's top Club, LUX. Meanwhile The Backwoods remix caught DJ Harvey's attention and preference and he included it in his recent Japan only mix CD. So it's time to announce the good news: Shades & Shadows EP is finished and ready to be played.
This amazing 3 track EP precedes Vahagn's debut album 'Cosmic Riddles', coming out soon on Groovement. So this time you'll find original material only conceived by this fine producer in his Lisbon studio with the participation of the great Detroit musician - now integral part of the city's vivid scene - Jerry the Cat, also outstanding lyrics and vocals by Diamondancer and, of course, Anthony 'impossible guitars' John.
'Shades & Shadows' is epic forward thinking creation. It's about taking chances and making a statement rather than going for the safe follow up of the well-succeeded 'Trust' release. So, it comes with no surprise that, after Sun Ra's wise words, we're welcomed by the brilliant Carl Sagan and conducted to an exciting 'eleven2cosmos' (A1) journey. The sense of belonging and the origin of things is the starting point. CS tells it better: it's a story about us, how we achieved our present understanding of cosmos… how cosmos has shaped evolution and our culture… and what our faith may be!
Once traveling the cosmos we enter new dimensions with the intergalactic funk piece named 'Antro' (A2). An irresistible on going groove eventually played by the imaginary Space Cadets Orchestra, that has visited Vahagn's studio on a full moon night.
But the shinning diamond(dancer) is the timeless 'Shades & Shadows' (B1) title track. Vahagn extends his creative vision to an epic collaboration with the mighty Jerry the Cat (congas and vocals), the outstanding Diamondancer (vocals) and daring Anthony John (guitar). 9 min of sublime dance floor transcendence. Can your mind travel?
