The 2nd release on DEEP SHIT - the label curated by Edwin Congreave from Foals and Jack Savidge from Friendly Fires - is the debut EP from Durrr resident KIWI, aka Alex Warren. KIWIs Llama is a much more straight up offering than the labels first 12, the epic Heal from label head Congreave (which received support from Radio 1 DJs Annie Mac, Heidi and Rob da Bank, as well as widespread club and blog recognition). The EPs title track, a classic slice of italo-house, was a staple in Savidges Australian tour at the turn of the year and seeing first-hand the overwhelming reactions it received from small basement clubs to festival main stages made it a no-brainer for him to snap up for the label. KIWI, meanwhile, has continued to win admirers as established as Erol Alkan and Andrew Weatherall (who both included his music in their recent BBC 6 Mixes), with further support coming from the likes of Ewan Pearson and Daniel Avery. All this has cemented itself with a booking at Londons prestigious Field Day festival, despite still having released no original material to date. Llama is backed with b-side Jerboa a slower, all together more metallic offering as well as remixes from Jack Savidge and fellow Durrr resident Rory Phillips.
