A KC & The Sunshine Band - Let It Go (Danny Krivit Edit)
B Gwen McCrae - Move Me Baby (Danny Krivit Edit)
Legendary NYC DJ / editor Danny Krivit’s story in contemporary dance music is a long and storied one. Danny’s got to be one of the hardest working men behind the decks right now with an international rep and DJ schedule truly befitting of his time spent making us dance over the last 45 (!) years. It makes perfect sense then, that one of the most seminal Disco labels of all time would call upon Mr. K’s sharp editing skills when reappraising some of the jams from their extensive catalogue. TK Disco is the label in question here and they’ve let Danny loose on a pair of dance-floor burners that all Disco heads will be familiar with. On side-A we have KC & The Sunshine Band’s “Let It Go", an oft sampled uptempo funk number from 1975 that pleases both b-boys and disco dancers in equal amounts, widely recognised in the UK as the main sample from DJ Mink’s “Hey, hey (Can you relate?)” and Scientists hardcore classic “The Exorcist". Here Danny extends the breaks, looping the funk just right and turning the track into a bonafide DJ weapon, you might even want to nab 2 copies for the extended, extended mix session! (If you’re that way inclined!) Essential! On side-B is Gwen McCrae’s midtempo heater “Move Me Baby” from 1974, a pre-Disco stepper featuring Gwen’s legendary vocals over some sublime Casey and Finch production! Danny’s edit is subtle and slightly tougher edged than the original, again extending and rearranging the track respectfully. This one has the dancers firmly planted in it’s mind and will sound awesome pumping out of any decent soundsystem! Both edits are masterfully executed, which is stating the obvious considering who’s behind them! 100% legit re-edits, remastered and released in conjunction with Henry Stone Music / TK Disco - Miami FL.
