That journey sees him concentrating on writing his debut album ‘To Have & Have Not.’ * Jubei has been quoted as saying “If you’re not sick of a track by the time it’s finished then you’re not done writing it.” This is an artist who takes his responsibilities seriously. Carrying the weight of nearly two decades of Metalheadz history and forcing himself to push the boundaries further, deeper and more experimental than those who go before him. * Jubei approaches writing an album like soldiers approach going to war. His forthcoming debut is full of personal sacrifice, hours, days, weeks and months of painstaking work; constant questioning, constant searching and, in the end, constant artistic satisfaction. * ‘Say Nothin’ is the first track to be released from Jubei’s album and one listen will display that sacrifice laid bare for all to see. Featuring Flowdan, a founding member of Roll Deep and previous member of the garage collective Pay As You Go Cartel, ‘Say Nothing’ is nothing short of incredible. * Half-time drums and an ever-morphing apocalyptic backdrop open the way for Flowdan’s paranoid vocals that roll and dip, swerve and switch impeccably as Jubei’s cavernous bass notes demand your rib cage’s attention. * Alongside ‘Say Nothin’, Jubei collaborates with Exit artist Consequence to create ‘Accidental Note.’ A more traditional drum & bass track, this reflects Metalheadz’ history, giving a nod to the scene’s pioneering spirit which has carved a path for the bass music generation of today.
