On 6th August, Double Six are to release a 12” featuring two heavyweight remixes of Jon Hopkins tracks taken from his recent album, Insides. Hot on the heels of Jon’s hypnotic remix of Four Tet’s Angel Echoes (July 19th), Kieran Hebden here returns the favour, delivering his hardest uptempo offering for a while, a garage-tinged remix of Vessel. Retaining all the beauty of the original but aligning it with the dancefloor, he builds clouds of euphoria over the original’s slamming bass. The 12” is b/w a stamping freeform techno reworking of Wire, from Border Community’s Nathan Fake. Following his improvised performance with Brian Eno and The Necks at the Brighton Festival last month, and an acclaimed performance at MUTEK in Montreal last week, Jon Hopkins will be playing live at a few select festivals across the world this summer including Electric Zoo Festival, New York.
