A. MODUS BASS FUN AA. MOGADISHU
*Dubbed a "structural prodigy" by Mixmag, South London's Joe Syntax is back with "Modus Bass Fun"; an exuberant 12” offering the very best in dancefloor D+B with buckets of bassline bounce.
*Joe Syntax impressed with his Med School debut last year; both "Signal Drop" and "Sightlines" were received with rapturous praise from Mary Anne Hobbs (XFM), Mistajam (BBC Radio 1), Marcus Intalex, Brookes Brothers, TC, DJ Hype and many others. This was followed up by "Red Rhythm", an uncompromising collaboration with Lung and Eleven8, which was released on Med School's "Blood Pressure" compilation earlier this year. Joe's new EP takes his production to the next level, so prepare to adopt your bassface as we get syntactical.
*"Modus Bass Fun" – a favourite of DJ Friction’s, which he’s been rinsing on his BBC Radio 1 show of late - kicks off with a flurry of burps and bleeps. Fierce, punchy drums and a catchy bass riff dominate, whilst a cheeky computerized vocal adds a quirky twist to the proceedings.
*But watch out, things quickly turn nasty in "Mogadishu". Aptly named after one of the world's most dangerous cities, make sure you have your wits about you during this outrageous aural assault. Led by a lethal bassline and punishing renegade snares, this one is bass-led badness at it’s very best with menacing intent.
*This is a must-have release from Med School's sonic surgeon Joe Syntax as he adds a generous dollop of fun to his infectiously innovative brand of D+B.
