Jatun Mama is a Kichwa electronic music duo from the Andes of Ecuador. It was born in March 2023 in the Kichwa commune of Turuku, located in Cotacachi - Imbabura, where Jesús Bonilla, musician and musical producer of Jatun Mama, proposes the re-signification of the music of the peoples and nationalities of Ecuador re-mixing instruments of the Andean region with modern sonorities and electronic equipment, seeking to transmit the strength of the ritual music and the Kichwa party. In June of 2024 they had their first tour in Europe, visiting Madrid and Berlin, and released their first album URA UKU in April of 2025 under the record label Eck Echo Records and ANTA Records. Jatun Mama's first album, composed of 10 tracks and produced by Atzil Jesús Bonilla, explores the cosmology of Ecuador's ancestral peoples through atmospheric soundscapes, Andean musical instruments and electronic music tools. Cruzloma collaborates on 2 tracks of this album which was produced at ANTA Records, a community record label, located in the Turuku commune within the Kichwa territory in the Andes of Ecuador. This album represents a vibrant emerging sound culture that seeks to re-signify the musical tradition of the ancestral peoples of Ecuador. The physical and digital release of URA UKU will be in April 2025 under Eck Echo Records and ANTA Records.
