Remember your first time at a rave? Of course you don’t. And if you do, you either did it wrong or you’re a liar. With the latest installment of the 7777 onslaught, Jared Wilson aims to remind you of a time you don’t remember. This EP is a souvenir back in time; beyond the zero and beyond the one and back into the analog bringing back memories you never had and experiences you never felt. “Paris Massacre” is reminiscent of a time when function mattered more than form and fashion, when sound systems and no lighting took precedence over state of the art fashion shows and laptop DJs. It’s not nostalgic by any stretch of the word, though. How can one be nostalgic for a time they can’t recall? The flip of the record is the wonderful “Scmocid”, a wonderful reexamination of what it means to work a 303 to near death.
