The HOUSING PROJECT is a Well Rounded sister label to concentrate closely on more recognisably House productions. The reason for this is because at WR HQ House Music is in our DNA and as natural as air. However, as is anticipated with Well Rounded, we will explore many different dynamics within House from slow dreamy tracks, original vocal tunes with a twist, deep dubz, cosmic boogie vibes, Latin & Afro-driven riddims and feel good euphoria – but all with a touch of the different. Our first release brings together two treasures that pack dancefloor immediacy and memorable musical vibes in equal measures. A side: James Fox gives us the underground anthem ‘New Jack Swing’ entwining the catchiness of Summery R&B & Pop with the crisp bump and thump of Pure House. We don’t want to get over-descriptive with music that has such a simple aim – namely to bring a smile to your face and make you dance. However, as the groove gets into your bones and the panting chanting vocals appear you sense this track is heading for greatness. When the vocals develop into an impassioned and soulful plea during the drop, it’s clear this is a BOMB!! This is getting plenty of support on Rinse from Djs including Brackles and MA1 as well as lots of Forum / blog and youtube love. People are already demanding this.... and it will stand the test of time! AA side: Brighton’s hardest working funk outfit Mean Poppa Lean have their ‘Personality’ live favourite re-shaped by up & coming producer Leon (also hailing from the UK’s daftest town – and we are qualified to say that, we live here). Leon constructs a low-slung heads down hazey-mover containing crackly pealing chords and crunchy compressed drums. This is punctuated by an evolving rhythmic sub-bass line that adds a monsterous momentum. This is crowned by MPL lead singer Christian Jennings Barnes’ gritty appeal to see some “personality” – something sadly absent from a lot of House but here in abundance.
