SIDE A: ESCAPE-ISM (PT. 1) / SIDE B: ESCAPE-ISM (PT. 2) / In 2014, Get On Down released the For The People Pt. 1 box set, which featured a selection of heavy funk 45s from James Brown's 1970s imprint People Records, as a celebration of the label and its' most famous singles. Now we're proud to present the five singles available for individual sale, lovingly re-created with visuals taken from the original artwork! No People Records collection would be complete without a contribution from the Godfather of Soul himself. "Escape-Ism" is 70s-era James Brown at his finest, supposedly written to kill time while he and The JBs waited for Bobby Byrd to arrive at their studio. A winding, two-part funk/soul epic, spanning both-sides of the single, the track reached #6 in the Billboard R&B charts, #25 in the pop charts, and would later be sampled by The Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, and Big Daddy Kane. It's now presented here for the first time in over 30 years, in its original 7" single format.
