Tectonic debut for Jack Sparrow as this rising star shows a different side from his previous floor smashing rhythms for labels like Contagious and Earwax as he unleashes a deep, dark, tribal roller on one side of the plate and a more melodic deep house infused take on dubstep for the flip. Quality dance music with a 'no compromise' mentality. 'The Chase' begins with a dissonant chord - rising, evolving and building the tension slowly before energised hats come crashing in and build to the drop. In come raging subs and a tribal conga pattern which will have you skanking the moment you get over the sheer impact. This is a heavily weighted bassline and on the right system you will feel it pushing hard. Jack Sparrow really touches a sound that so far only the likes of Mala and Shackleton have managed to pull off sucessfully. Flip then for 'Fullest', featuring Sparrow's friend Biggins alongside him on the buttons - a very different beast from the cold rolling a-side. 'Fullest' holds a more relaxed vibe, less tense and far more melodic, the galloping kick pattern rolls with smooth silky chords layering up in a deep house style. Featured in the Tectonic Plates Volume 2 (Pinch Mix CD), this is cool, breezy musical dubstep for the groovers.
