Toronto-based techno artist Greg Gow was given the honour of rekindling Transmat?s still warm embers and “The Pilgrimage EP” is the perfect catalyst for the label’s return. “The Bridge” is an epic Detroit styled house cut that sounds like classic Transmat with huge strings and catchy, soulful melodies. Derrick May was captivated, but needed Greg to expand “The Bridge” and requested an extended mix, which is what essentially created this EP. A massive arrangement, beautiful structured and playing with dynamics on a scientific level, the tune is filled with emotion, energy and intelligence. One for Sonar festival and the Detroit Electronic Music festival, “The Bridge” has anthem written all over its sleeve - E-E-E-Essential! As an added bonus we get “Black Sun” tagged onto the end of the twelve. This is a heavy tribal techno number from the days of Clarke, Garnier and Mills (they’re DJs, not solicitors!) rocking 150bpm sets in nightclubs with very low ceilings and overactive smoke machines. Absolutely storming, and then out of nowhere we’re hit with a breakdown to end all breakdowns! Reach for the lazers ravers!
