April 26th 2010 marks the release of the debut release by London duo Gold Blood - the Twilight Language E.P., released on Human Shield. With no official publicity to date, Gold Blood have already gained praise in high places due to their frenetic, hardcore-influenced electronic art pop, both on record and at their unique, compelling gigs.
Their affiliation with the thriving, acclaimed Brixton club night World Unknown has also helped propel this band into the conscience of underground connoisseurs across the nation.Gold Blood is collaboration between University Lecturer Emile Bojesen and keyboard enthusiast Michael Anthony Wright. Emile is better known for previously fronting the hardcore band Chariots (Holy Roar, Big Scary Monsters), his current noise-rock band The Good Wife (Super-Fi) and his writing and performance in the multilateral art project with JMF Casey - The Church. Michael has been making electronic music under the guise of Brassica (Dissident, Tartaruga, Cyber Dance) as well other collaborations such as Queen of Swords (Aurora Borealis), Achrid (Benbecula), Minus Two Quartet, The Laptop Orchestra (with David Toop) and Dallas Brett (with Jorja Chalmers of The Ting Tings and Brian Ferry’s band).Gold Blood is a meeting of two strongly individual habitations of music, forming together in the faith of working outside of one's comfort zone towards something original and exciting. Emile's vocals and lyrics work with narratives, concrete poetics and self-referentiality. Michael works with keyboards and drum machines, especially old ones. Somehow it works.Gold Blood are in the habit of impressing wherever they go. Human Shield co-runner Ali Renault (also one half of synth pop heroes Heartbreak) deigned their music more than proficient to release and Dissident London founder/international DJ Andy Blake came on board to manage the band, having been blown away by their show at his highly-rated London club World Unknown.
