Strange Desire Recordings inaugural release was charted by Andrew Weatherall and received full support from Stevie Kotey, Richard Sen, Phoreski, Faze Action, Jonny Rock and Max Essa. This second outing showcases Free Disco diversity as a producer, and with a strictly limited run of only 250 copies you need to get your fastest disco shoes on.
Mad Fishʼs opening horns kick off what could easily be a high-speed intergalactic car chase. Shimmering chords atop a twitching growling bassline make this one fish that wonʼt get away. Yam Who? turn in an excellent remix, slowing it down, wrapping it in space funk and giving it a bit of swagger.
Flip over and itʼs as if a house producer stepped into a phone booth and spun out wearing a spandex all-in-one. Ghost Boogie 1977 is pure unadulterated disco joy, bottled up and served to you by spinning trolley-dollies on roller skates welcoming you aboard flight fantastic.
The final track Wooden Horse, under the moniker The Randomwalkers, is tailor made for a beautifully bleary-eyed Balearic sunrise. Halcyon keys, ambient guitar and hazy vocals lift you out of your melancholy and leave you floating about 20 feet above the clouds in a state of delicious disarray.
