On his debut album “Way Home”, Ephraim Giepen sets eleven scenes from a fictional story to a beat-heavy soundtrack. The journey leads through parallel, overlapping worlds, gloomy end-time scenarios to a fantastic vision of a world in balance. Urban beats and industrial noises meet vast soundscapes of nature tones, analog synthesizers as well as baritone guitar and some effect pedals. Field recordings give „Way Home“ its individual character allowing direct access to Ephraim Giepen's experimental way of creating. From recordings of calm waters, roaring freight trains, clinking glasses or even deafening concrete mixers, he forms hypnotic beats and expansive sonic spaces.
