Desert Sound Colony return to Scissor and Thread with their second release, “Cracks In My Soul.” From the brazen call to arms title track, “Cracks In My Soul,” to the Smiths-like guitar drenched crooner, “Howling At the Dark,” the blissful bounce of “Favorite Game,” the EP blends together the nostalgia of early ’90s northern british soul with the dance floor throb of modern psychedelic acts like Black Moth Super Rainbow, Tycho and Washed Out. Closing out the EP with the droning dance floor bomb, “Riverbed,” Desert Sound Colony show that they are sonic landmark here to stay.
