Nashville’s Cortney Tidwell has quietly spread her name, but not only in the indie rock and singer songwriter business. Her debut album ‘Don’t Let Stars Keep Us Tangled Up’ in 2007, plenty of guest performances, live tours and stunning remixes of her songs made her unique voice instantly recognizable. Her latest album ‘Boys’ released in June 2009 once again inspires musicians to reinterpret and develop her songs in an electronic setting. Following Cortney’s appearance on the Sideshow album we’re thrilled to welcome her to Aus for a full single. Will fell in love with ‘Palace’, after hearing Cortney’s softmore album ‘Boys’ and asked City Slang if he could remix it. He wanted the power of the song and melody to be left to breathe and has added no more than drums, bass and some careful flashes of melody. City Slang loved the remix and Will suggested that he release it on Aus.… we thought Michel Cleis would perfectly compliment the hypnotic, melodic beauty of the original and he has reframed ‘Palace’ perfectly for the dancefloor. 2009 has proven to be Michel Cleis’s breakthrough year with hugely popular releases on Cadenza (‘Uva Fragolina’) and Supplement Facts (‘East of Eden’) and a string of sought after remixes. Fresh from his epic 3 disc mix for EQ Recordings (Balance 015), Will is back in the studio with his long term production partner Tam Cooper for this remix. They have been regular collaborators since Will’s debut album ‘Space Between’ and in the last year have released ‘In & Out / 3000 AD’, ‘Teddy’s Back’ and a re-fix of ‘Where is it?’ on sister label Simple. Will also forged a successful production partnership with Mike Monday in 2009, which has seen them remix for DFA and Appleblim and release for Buzzin’ Fly and Clone (forthcoming in 2010).
